Dental implants cost: prices for every procedure
An implant is not one procedure, and this is the most misquoted item in dentistry. Placing the post in the jaw, the abutment that connects to it and the crown on top are three separate codes with three separate fees. An advertised implant price almost always refers to the post alone.
Observed dataObserved negotiated rates. Every figure here is a real negotiated amount taken from payer files published under the federal Transparency in Coverage rule. These are what a dental plan pays a contracted practice - not a cash price.
Estimated self-payEstimated self-pay range, not an observation. We do not have observed cash prices, and we will not present a modelled number as though we did. This range is the upper half of the same observed negotiated distribution, shown because an uninsured patient generally pays at or above the highest negotiated tier. Treat it as a budgeting aid and ask any practice for a written quote.

Ranked by median price
Medians only. The table below gives the full observed range and sample size for each.
Observed prices in full
| Treatment | Negotiated range Observed | Median | Spread | Practices (n) | Est. self-pay Estimated |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Implant post placed in the jaw | $1,333 – $1,710 | $1,500 | 24,583 | $1,500 – $1,978 | |
| Ceramic crown attached to an implant | $871 – $1,160 | $1,013 | 23,647 | $1,013 – $1,366 | |
| Ceramic crown on an implant abutment | $842 – $1,106 | $962 | 23,810 | $962 – $1,264 | |
| Bone graft at an implant site | $254 – $417 | $317 | 21,933 | $317 – $477 |
What to watch forTo compare implant quotes honestly you need the post, the abutment, the crown and any bone graft or imaging itemised on one page. A quote that is dramatically below the local range is usually quoting one component of three.
